What is FUE?

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) - A technique in hair restoration that REMOVES individual follicular units from the sides and back of the scalp individually with out using scalpels, stitches, or staples.  This minimally invasive graft harvest technique is the most patient friendly hair restoration procedure in the industry.

The earliest FUE technique utilized a hand tool which was referred to as a "Sharp Punch" (picture to the right) that the doctor would rotate back and forth by hand,  attempting  to accurately follow the direction of the hair shaft beneath the skin. This is referred to as a "Single Punch Technique". The consequences of this technique were the difficulty in maintaining the manual precision necessary to follow the path of hair without slicing through it, and the slow inefficiency of harvesting the grafts by hand.
